Agtech & Innovation Program
About the program
The program runs from January 2025 until December 2027 and is designed to:
- Foster innovation activities and services that empower Innovation-Driven Enterprises (IDEs) to generate ideas, launch startups, and scale their operations
- Enhance Bundaberg’s regional innovation ecosystem by providing services that support IDEs
- Build and strengthen networks that encourage collaboration and promote IDE growth through skill development, events, and the exchange of knowledge
- Speed up the adoption of technological innovations in priority sectors, such as agtech and disability support, to drive economic transformation in the Bundaberg region
This program is proudly supported by Advance Queensland, as part of the Regional Enablers Program.

Program activities

EVENT DELEGATIONS
RBHQ will be taking small number of local delegates to the following events each year:

agtech showcase
Bundaberg’s own agtech event featuring a conference, exhibition and demonstrations. The event is organised by Regional Business HQ with input from various stakeholders from government, agriculture and economic development.
2025 will be the third Agtech Showcase. Dates and registrations will be advertised on agtechshowcase.com.au, our Events page, through our email newsletter, and on socials.

MTIA & youth Incubator Program
The Youth Incubator program provides an extension to the Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards (MTIA) with up to four teams from the MTIA final pitch night to receive more coaching and support for further development of their innovative business ideas.
These sessions will run from June to September after the MTIA process has been completed.

Hackathons/Makeathons
Agriculture and disability support/aged care are two of the region’s key sectors. These events will support these industries through:
• Generation of innovative solutions to key challenges
• Collaboration between diverse participants, fostering creativity and problem-solving
• Identification and development of potential new technologies and startups
• Creation of investment pathways for IDEs

Agtech Collaboration Forums
Held each quarter with a specific theme and the objectives of:
• Real-time identification and addressing of regional gaps and challenges
• Enhanced collaboration and connectivity within the regional Agtech ecosystem
• Increased sharing of knowledge, resources, and best practices among participants

agtech webinars
Held each quarter with a specific topic designed to:
• Increase knowledge and understanding of agtech
• Improve ability of participants to research, adopt, and deploy relevant agtech solutions
• Enhance capacity building and support within local networks

agtech ready reckoner
The Agtech Ready Reckoner will be a self-assessment tool designed to help agribusinesses evaluate their readiness for agtech adoption. It will guide users through key areas such as digital skills, infrastructure, and business needs, providing a clear picture of their preparedness.
Based on their responses, businesses will receive insights and recommendations to help them take the next steps. By identifying gaps and opportunities, the Agtech Ready Reckoner will support agribusinesses to make informed decisions about integrating technology into their operations.

Agtech Service Provider Database
The Agtech Service Provider Database will be a comprehensive resource listing service providers with a base or local staff in the Bundaberg region. It will detail their specialties and contact information, making it easier for businesses to find local expertise in agricultural technology.
To ensure its value, the database will be easily accessible and regularly updated. Users will be able to search by service type or expertise, ensuring they can quickly connect with the right providers within the region.

Solutions Exchange
The Solutions Exchange will be an online forum where regional businesses can seek solutions to their unsolved problems. It will connect them with innovators, industry experts, and creative thinkers who can offer fresh ideas and practical strategies.
For problem-solvers, the platform will provide a space to test ideas, showcase expertise, and build valuable connections. By linking businesses with those who can help, The Solutions Exchange will foster innovation and collaboration across the region.
