Five steps to quick, effective writing training with Sandra Hogan

Ever sit there staring at the screen or paper and not know where to start?

Effective business writing saves money, time, and reputation. Regional Business HQ is hosting WriteBusiness who offers you practical, interactive effective business writing courses designed to help your writing support your business goals.

Has someone in your business ever written an email that offended a customer? Have you ever seen a report go to the board that delayed a critical decision? Have you had proposals rejected because they weren’t concise enough, or they missed the point?

Perhaps you wish you and your staff could get on with your real jobs, instead of wasting time in an endless cycle of writing, rewriting, and editing?

This practical writing workshop shows participants five steps for how to write more quickly and easily.

Participants should come to the session with an idea for a work document they can practise on. Ideally it will be something they really need to write soon. If they don’t have anything specific to write soon, they can use the process to review a document they wrote previously—perhaps one that didn’t go too well.

The five steps are: analysis of audience and purpose; mind map for planning; quick first draft; editing for accuracy, flow and words; and proofreading.

By the end of the session, participants will have a clear plan for their document and a rough first draft. If it is a long document, they may only have drafted a section of it. They will also have edited and proofread a section of it.

This would be great for someone with a grant or funding submission coming up, an annual report, government acquittal or business document.
